Reboot Your Brain: From Burnout to Balance for Women with ADHD

A program from Open Space Counselling

You’re not flaky, lazy, or chaotic.

You’ve tried to bend to expectations that never made sense for your brain. The jig is up: it’s time to create a new system that allows you some breathing space.

Many women with ADHD are in a slow burn — constantly managing, people pleasing, and overthinking. This program helps you understand what’s really happening beneath the overwhelm so that you can stop pushing through and start living with more ease.

You’ll learn to:

  • Regulate your stress and energy by tuning into your nervous system
  • Reframe your (constant) self-criticism
  • Accept your actual capacity (not the capacity you think you *should* have)
  • Create daily systems that feel doable, energising, and flexible
  • Build self-trust and appreciation for your unique operating system

Program Overview

Why burnout looks different for women with ADHD — and how to spot it before it takes you out.
You’ll notice: fewer crashes, more awareness of your limits, and relief from the “never enough” loop.

Understand how ADHD affects your stress response and learn body-based tools for regulation.
You’ll notice: deeper sleep, steadier moods, and more presence with people instead of checking out.

Replace guilt and perfectionism with self-respect and realistic expectations.
You’ll notice: fewer “I failed again” days and a kinder, more sustainable pace.

(Boundaries • Capacity • Expectations)
Plan from your real bandwidth, not pressure. Protect your time and peace.
You’ll notice: more white space in your week and energy left for the people who matter.

Learn early interventions to keep exhaustion and overdrive from returning.
You’ll notice: steadier energy, fewer crashes, and confidence that you can recover quickly when things get messy.

Are you excessively hard on yourself? Do you always fall short of your own expectations, and then ruminate on how you could be doing better? Well, join the mom club. We don’t want you to stop thriving and aspiring, but the link between self-criticism and overwhelm is tighter than you might imagine, and we want to give you some breathing space by helping you adopt a more generous, kind and realistic relationship with your struggles. And if the term self-compassion makes you cringe…it won’t by the end of this session.

Common Questions

Support groups are made up of people who share common struggles. We believe that there is incredible healing potential in feeling seen and understood. Support groups go beyond venting. At Open Space Counselling, we acknowledge that some problems are complicated – but we aim to strike a balance between holding space for the messiness and identifying areas for growth and change.
No you don’t! Anyone who meets the group criteria is welcome to register. If you’re not sure, please reach out to us (hyperlink to our email) to ask us if this group is a good fit for you right now.

In order to participate in this group, you must:

  • Live in Canada
  • Identify as a woman
  • Be willing to show up in a nonjudgmental way, open to hearing about others’ experiences, and willing to share your own

Note: This group is not a replacement for therapy. If you have complex concerns that would be best worked through with a therapist (and who doesn’t?), we recommend you see an individual therapist
(if you live in BC, we can hook you up).

Yup. Confidentiality is key to group safety and trust. However, there are a few legal exceptions to a counsellor’s duty of confidentiality: if there is a concern of imminent harm to you or another (e.g., threats of suicide or homicide), if a child is in need of protection (e.g., abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence) or if your file has been subpoenaed for a court case.
If you need to withdraw from the group, we require at least 48 hours’ notice before the first session. If you provide less than 48 hours’ notice or do not attend the first session, you will be responsible for the full group fee, which will be charged to the credit card we have on file.

You will need to check with your provider to ensure that they cover the services of an RCC, and that they cover group support.

Yes! Because this is a support group, rather than a therapy group, anyone in Canada is eligible to participate (you must still meet the criteria for this group).
