"I don't know why I feel so angry all the time"

Has losing your temper hurt your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues? Is anger your go-to state when you are overwhelmed, exhausted, and feel misunderstood? Do you often think: it shouldn’t be this hard to be patient and calm, even when you’re frustrated?

Anger can bring out the worst in us. It often leads us to make decisions that we regret later causing pain to the people we love and care about the most.

If you struggle with:

  • Feeling more anger than you should in normal life situations
  • Lashing out at people that didn't cause your anger
  • Using sarcasm as a defence mechanism or a passive aggressive tool
  • Being rude to customer service employees, even when you know better
  • Attempting to calm your intense emotions with unhealthy substances

Our anger management therapy can help you recognize the early signs of anger so you can stop it from escalating.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a really common fear – and can be a barrier to seeking help! Most people who lose their temper have a lot of guilt and shame about their inability to control their anger. We understand that rage and anger happen to good people and pride ourselves on providing a non-judgmental space where people can feel supported enough to open up and explore the layers of their anger.

If only it were as easy as breathing and picturing a calm lake! Treating anger involves many components, including looking closely at what triggers you, the automatic ‘meaning making’ that occurs when we’re triggered, exploring the valid unmet needs and vulnerabilities that are happening underneath the anger, as well as techniques (breathing and beyond) for de-escalating your wired nervous system.

No! We firmly believe that anger is a valid emotion – and one that we are wired to have when we are disrespected or treated unfairly. However, when we don’t process our anger effectively, it can control you, and hurt others.

Suppressing your anger is not the goal of counselling. Anger is a valid emotion. Anger management doesn’t mean anger elimination – it means eliminating toxic anger manifestations like rage and aggression, and helping you become more constructive, clear and assertive when angry.

Anger is an important signal that we receive when we feel our boundaries have been violated in some way. Counselling can help explore both the interpretation of the triggering events, as well as how the anger gets expressed. However, in order to benefit from anger management counselling, you will need to accept responsibility for your anger. We can help you explore the ‘pain point’ beneath your reaction, and formulate meaningful action.

Our evidence-based, tried and true approach to anger management can help you:

  • Understand what is beneath that powerful surge of anger
  • Take responsibility for your reactions without spiralling into shame
  • Regulate your nervous system in real-time
  • Express your anger and frustration towards others respectfully and effectively
