What We Help

Anger Management

DO YOU EXPERIENCE INTENSE ANGER OR HAVE DIFFICULTIES CONTROLLING YOUR TEMPER?

Anger is a normal human emotion. However, uncontrollable and frequent anger can lead to conflicts in your relationships, problems at work, or even legal issues. Anger can bring out the worst in us. It often leads us to make decisions that we regret later causing pain to the people we love and care about the most. Therapy offers a safe and supportive environment to identify the root of your anger, learn to control outbursts and find healthy outlets for your emotions.  Start expressing your emotions clearly and calmly and reconnect with the people that matter most.

Boundary Setting & People Pleasing

DOES SAYING NO TO PEOPLE MAKE YOU BREAK OUT INTO A COLD SWEAT?

Setting boundaries in your personal and professional lives can be challenging and even scary. It can feel uncomfortable to say ‘no’ or to set limits with others. Sometimes, we have core beliefs that if we don’t make other people happy, we will be less valued and likeable. This can lead us to avoid conflict and assertiveness – even at the cost of our own values. When you constantly prioritise the needs of others over your own needs, feelings of overwhelm, resentment and exhaustion can result.

People are often surprised to learn that boundaries actually improve relationships (not to mention restore energy and well being). Therapy can help get to the bottom of your communications struggles, and help you develop strategies and skills to set boundaries with confidence.

Depression

HAVE YOU LOST SOME OR ALL OF THE JOY YOU USED TO EXPERIENCE?

Depression robs you of your vitality and makes it difficult to connect with others. When it is mild or moderate, depression feels like a constant obstacle that seems to take too much energy to get around. Depression symptoms can manifest as feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of energy or interest in activities that were once enjoyable. Physical symptoms can include changes in appetite, fatigue, and trouble sleeping. Emotionally, depression can leave you feeling isolated and alone. Therapy can be helpful in treating depression by providing support, understanding, and coping strategies. We are here to help you genuinely believe in your self-worth again.

Grief & Loss

ARE YOU STRUGGLING TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER A LOSS OR IS YOUR GRIEF TOO MUCH TO HANDLE ON YOUR OWN?

Grief is heartbreaking, and can be overwhelming. The emotions following a significant loss can range from sadness, guilt, anger and fear – and sometimes all of these at once. At the same time, it is not uncommon to also experience numbness and detachment in the aftermath of loss. Overall, people who have experienced a major loss often describe feeling destabilized, unable to concentrate, and unmoored. Loss can change how we see ourselves and the world around us, which leaves us uncertain as to how to move forward. Counselling in the wake of loss takes different forms depending on what your grief response is. Some people need an accepting and compassionate experience to experience the magnitude of their feelings. Others need to talk through and parse out the events leading up to the loss. We want to help you work through the complexities of your grief so that you can feel sadness without depression and grief without hopelessness.

Infertility

WHEN WHAT YOU WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IS OUT OF YOUR CONTROL

The stress and uncertainty of trying to conceive and undergoing fertility treatments is profoundly triggering. Our emotions can take us on a ride: we feel fear, sadness, regret, anger, jealousy, and frustration cycling through us. Social events, public places, and even our workplaces can become full of triggers, when pregnancy announcements and talk of babies and children takes over the lunch room . When we work with clients experiencing infertility, we guide you through effective emotional coping strategies, anxiety management, and relationship struggles. We have therapists on our team who have extensive personal and professional experience in dealing with the medical treatment aspect of fertility treatment, as well as the emotional roller coaster. We work with all types of prospective parents, including single parents-to-be, same-sex couples, adoptive parents and people who are experiencing secondary infertility (difficulty conceiving the second child). We are here to support you as you navigate the uncertainty and anxiety resulting from infertility.
