Our problems and fears feel more threatening and overwhelming when we’re alone with them, inside our heads. That’s why my aim in counselling is to create a space for you where you don’t have to fake it, fear judgement, or filter your thoughts. We’ll talk about real stuff—the thoughts, feelings, and situations that brought you here. Feeling listened to and understood can often pave the way to increased self-awareness, greater clarity, and improved confidence.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people – from Indigenous and immigrant communities to otherwise stable people struggling with relationships, stress, and family problems. I’m a strong ally of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

What You Can Expect When Working With Yenny

In our sessions, you’ll notice my warmth and curiosity, and you might be surprised to know that we also share a few laughs. Most of my clients leave our first session commenting “that was a lot less awkward than I thought it would be!”  My goal is to understand your patterns, values, and the path you’ve walked in life.  Whether you are struggling with conflict in a relationship, anxiety about work or school, or feeling lost and indecisive, together we can get to the root of your struggles, and look at strategies and skills that will help you live with more confidence and ease.

I like to hold a balance between understanding “why” you struggle the way we do, and “how” we can help you make small but meaningful changes that will help you see a difference in your present life. It’s important to me that we’re practical, but still treating the underlying issues that keep flaring up in your life.

I draw from various tools, including EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I also like to integrate somatic approaches because our bodies often give us clues before our minds catch on.

More About Yenny

I’m originally from Bogota, Colombia, and am completely fluent in both English and Spanish. I arrived in Canada as a refugee in 2002, and I’m grateful to bring the duality of my identity into my work. I’m a middle child and a constant observer, which gives me a pretty good handle on family dynamics and how they shape our relationships and sense of self.

Social by nature, I recharge best in the company of friends and family. I’m driven by creativity, and love photography and crafting (even when my creations don’t turn out quite as planned). I’m a proud dog mama to a rescue dog named Coco, who has taught me a lot about patience and trust.
