Full Bio

Natalie is not accepting new clients. Please contact us at connect@openspacecounselling.ca for other low-cost counsellors on our team.

I am a curious person and have a drive towards engaging with people and helping them draw out their natural strengths in the face of adversity . Having worked in healthcare for most of my adult life, I have been exposed to a range of struggles, from the anxieties posed by uncertainty to family and relationship issues. I’m also married with three grown kids, which has provided me with its own training on the turbulence and resilience of being human! My life experiences have provided me with a rich understanding of people and relationships, and doing my Masters degree in Counselling Psychology has given me the academic training and knowledge base to legitimize doing the work that I have always felt was a natural calling.

What You Can Expect When Working With Natalie

My clients can expect that I will be a good listener, empathetic and focused on their needs. I am lively and engaged, but also solid and grounded. I also think it is helpful to challenge my clients in a respectful way to help them build self awareness and navigate the internal obstacles in their lives. I am fundamentally client centred, which means that I collaborate with my clients, treat them like the experts of their own lives, and help them uncover strengths and capacities that already exist.

My work is grounded in various therapeutic models, and I choose therapeutic interventions based on the individual circumstances and the issues at hand. I pay a lot of attention to detail and patterns of behaviour which allows me to clearly articulate my observations with my clients and to help them get to the root cause of presenting problems. This often leads to client self-reflection and a deeper understanding of their situation.

More About Natalie

I am originally from Montreal, which is where my extroverted personality comes from! I enjoy a good debate, and love it when people challenge me on my thoughts so that we can have a fruitful discussion. I enjoy learning from different people and hearing different opinions, which I believe is critical for growth as a person.

On another note, I love good food and pastries to the point that I went through a period of my life where I made “Cake Boss” type cakes as a hobby. I have three children studying in university and a husband, all of whom often drive me crazy – but who I love very much. I unwind and exercise by going on long walks with my dog, Teddy (my fourth child!), who keeps me on my toes.
