Full Bio

It’s hard to put into words how much joy I get from helping people gradually untangle their thoughts, heal from past wounds, and emerge as a strong, genuine and confident human. I see how much courage it takes to share previously concealed stories, pains, and hopes – and I consider it a privilege and an honour to hold space for this type of vulnerability. I’ve witnessed the transformative potential of therapy to facilitate healing and growth, and seeing this happen gives me so much inspiration to work in this capacity.

Helping my clients move from self-doubt and suffering to a more confident and connected place is what I love about being a therapist.

What You Can Expect When Working With Jyoti

Clients working with me can expect compassion, supportiveness and curiosity as they explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly and honestly. In real life, we often hold back out of fear of being judged or embarrassed. By providing a non-judgmental and open-minded presence, I create a therapeutic relationship built on trust and collaboration where clients feel heard, understood, and respected.

I approach therapy with a person-centred perspective, meaning I value each client as an individual with unique strengths, challenges, and goals. While there certainly are universal struggles in humanity, every person is different, and I endeavour to get to know each of my clients as unique people. Together, we’ll work to identify and understand underlying issues, explore patterns of behaviour and thought, and develop strategies for positive change.

Clients can expect that I will tailor therapeutic interventions and techniques to meet their specific needs and preferences. Whether utilising cognitive-behavioural techniques, mindfulness practices, trauma-informed therapy, or other evidence-based approaches, I aim to empower clients with nuanced insights combined with practical tools that support their growth and well-being. Overall, clients working with me can expect a dedicated partner in their journey towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and fulfilment in life.

Jyoti's Experience & Training

Being an empathetic and sensitive person, my calling has always been to support and help people navigate through their challenges and find meaning in their lives. My natural tendency towards caring and curiosity led me to pursue a career in therapy, where I engaged in years of formal training in psychology and counselling to back up my natural knack for connection. In more than 12 years of my experience in this field, I have worked with several EAP companies and non-profit organisations, completed different contracts with the Government of BC, and served clients through my private practice as well.

Throughout my career, I have developed particular expertise in working with populations experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. I have also gained significant experience in helping individuals navigate life transitions, such as career changes, relationship changes, and grief and loss.

More About Jyoti

I’ve always been the person friends turn to for a listening ear or to ask for advice. Growing up, I was the kid who loved solving puzzles and figuring out what made people tick.

As a mom, I had to navigate a complex medical landscape, especially in the younger years of my child’s life. Deciding the best course of action was sometimes overwhelming. Due to this emotional journey as a parent, I believe I have a personal understanding of parenting challenges. This sensitivity informs my non-judgmental and supportive approach to therapy with other parents.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll likely find me outdoors, soaking up nature’s vibes with my family. I’m a firm believer in the power of fresh air and sunshine to rejuvenate the soul.

I thrive on helping clients navigate life’s twists and turns, whether it’s untangling relationship woes, tackling anxiety monsters, or simply finding more joy in everyday moments. My approach is all about creating a safe space where you can be yourself, laugh (yes, therapy can include laughter!), and discover your own strengths.

Let’s embark on this journey together, because life’s challenges are always easier to face with someone by your side.
