Full Bio

People often arrive at counselling feeling stuck or overwhelmed, but not sure how to move forward. I love helping people get really clear about what internal conflicts, limiting self-beliefs, and old patterns are holding you back. I love seeing how this new self-awareness provides the foundation for the change process. As we progress through therapy and I get to know and understand you better, personal transformation really accelerates.

What You Can Expect When Working With Jane

A warm and genuine connection is central to what I bring to my clients. Most of my clients reflect to me that they find me easy to talk to, enabling them to express themselves more honestly. The sparks of connection between my clients and I range from validating previously concealed emotion to sharing a big laugh.

I am also by nature very practical! You’ve been enacting the same patterns for many years, and in order to help you break free from these, I provide you with tools and actionable strategies. I’m quite candid, and my clients are used to me being (kindly) forthcoming when I observe something in them that needs to be shared…or challenged!

A client experiencing infertility once shared with me, “your kindness and practical insights gave us the second wind we needed to continue on this marathon.”

Jane's Experience & Training

I graduated in 2012 with my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from UBC. Since then, I have counselled individuals and couples through relationship struggles, divorces, bereavement, depression, and anxiety. I have supported people who are exploring gender identity and sexual orientation. I have extensive experience supporting people through infertility challenges and the unique loss that comes with it.

Since joining Open Space Counselling in 2021, I have worked with a wide range of issues in individuals and couples. It’s my love of connecting with people that makes this work endlessly interesting and fulfilling.

More About Jane

I am happily a mom to an exuberant ten year old. I’m an extrovert who loves being surrounded by friends – but I stick to an insanely early bedtime. Working through my own life experiences such as infertility, illness, and supporting ageing parents have provided me with in-the-trenches experience on reducing anxiety and finding inner stability. Surviving breast cancer has deepened my practice of radical self-care and boundary setting. Staying grounded and calm through adversity is a learned skill that is a lifelong process, and I am always working on building this capacity. Even though emotional struggles are difficult, I see them as opportunities that facilitate growth and renewal. In my spare time, I love cooking, being in nature, and reading.
